Practice Scope
Providing advanced laparoscopic surgery with state of the art technology such as the harmonic scalpel and intraoperative ultrasound. Minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery has been a revolution for all surgeons. Procedures which in the past required long hospital stays can now be done as day surgery procedures most of the time. Incisions are smaller with laparoscopic surgery. Pain is usually less requiring fewer narcotics. There is also less disruption and manipulation of abdominal organs than with open surgery. This leads to a more rapid return of bowel function. Return to work time is also usually less with laparoscopic surgery. We offer a wide range of procedures using laparoscopic techniques. During his training Dr. McDearmont worked at the Southwestern Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery. This is a well respected national center for training laparoscopic surgeons. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colon resection, splenectomy, and diagnostic laparoscopy are all procedures within the scope of our practice. Patients with appendicitis can usually go home within 36 hours after laparoscopic appendectomy.
Breast Cancer Surgery

Hernia surgery is usually done as an outpatient but can require an overnight stay.
